Hello Flashback!

(or how people from my hometown say: MOIN!)

My name is Dom, nice to meet you!

With only this one page somewhere within the vast never ending internet, Iā€™ll be attempting to convince you to hire me as a content creator.

As soon as I first heard about Flashback, I knew I had to get my hands on one. Capturing the moment, while still staying in it. Having something with you at all times that gives that vintage disposable feel, without the actualā€¦wellā€¦ disposable part about it. It was really something I was looking for (and I couldnā€™t be happier with it!).

I was part of the initial launch on the Kickstarter (Order Nr. 398, I believe). But thatā€™s not all, Iā€™m also going for the title of most referrals for Flashback. Currently five people in my life have already gotten a Flashback themselves, but donā€™t worry, Iā€™m going for double digits.

Also, I think itā€™s rude to apply for something and come into it empty handed. So before I introduce myself and my work further, here is a video I made for you!

A little bit about myself.

So my journey in content creation started with editing in 2013, before I started shooting with my first camera in 2015. That I then got obsessed with creating is probably an understatement (and still is today). Back then I set out to learn every part of creating content and additionally got a university degree in media studies, with my bachelor thesis focused on the topic that intrigued me the most: Parasocial Relationships.

I was always very much into gaming, but I was always better with a camera in my hand as opposed to a controller. Combining those two led me to my first freelance jobs in the esports industry, shooting and editing documentaries and falling more and more in love with photography.

Then in 2021, I joined Team Liquid, one of the biggest esports teams in the world, as a video producer. And in the last three years I got to create a very big variety of cool and unique (and sometimes weird) things. A lot of my recent work is displayed here on my portfolio website. My main focus points shifted more and more towards photography, creating philanthropy campaigns and directing and shooting a variety of videos. But what is probably the most relevant for this application (and also the most fun at my job) is the social content I do with my colleague Wilmer under the name WAVE. For more on that, scroll down just little bit more.

So what is WAVE?

Somehow we managed to convince our boss to let us do all kinds of weird things in front of the camera in the name of content. Stuff like:

  • Going to the biggest esports tournament of the year and letting two fish predict the outcomes of matches during a live show sponsored by Monster Energy (See here)

  • Challenging fans to guess the best pro players from videos where the players morph very weirdly back from heroes of their game (yes, it is as weird as it sounds, and you can see it here). And also yes, that is me hosting this wonderful mess

  • Challenging a professional Super Smash Bros. player to a 1v1 while stacking the odds in my favour (see here)

  • Sneaking 300 plushies into the TwitchCon gaming convention (see here)

P.S. Fun side note. I even used Flashback at my job already, while making a content piece to advertise an apparel collection we did with Star Wars (see here).

Why you should hire me?

The more I get to create content, the more I get obsessed with it. And that goes especially for things that are good for the world. And that is exactly what I believe Flashback is: Good for the world.

I love collaboration and creating together as I believe the best things happen when people work together creatively. While I love working in a team, I am also skilled in every part of production and am able to take a project from ideation all the way through production and the edit process by myself.

Flashback is such an amazing product, and I believe there is an endless amount of amazing and creative content that is yet to be created. I am incredibly passionate and driven to become a part in your journey!

And lastly, is it really a Flashback application, if you donā€™t share some of your favourite photos?

Sometimes I like to have fun with editing the photos a bit more as well, so Iā€™ll mark them with a *
